A view from the castle by the falconry

“Dalhousie Castle is located in Midlothian Scotland, near the town of Bonnyrigg, just 8 miles from Edinburgh’s city centre.

The castle was the seat of the Earls of Dalhousie, the chieftains of Clan Ramsay.”

What to do?

There is an option to go to the falconry and hold an eagle or two, if you are into birds this is supposed to be a fab experience. Tom and I, however chose some different activities:

We explored the countryside to work up an appetite for dinner:

We then relaxed in the spa which has the following:

HYDRO POOL

This multi-massage jet pool incorporates an airbed, neck and specific muscular body massage jets. Designed to relieve aches and pains leaving you feeling energized.

OTTOMAN

A Turkish style steam bath with similar heating principals as the Laconium. Aroma essences can be introduced to relax your mind and soul. Kneipp Hoses are provided to cool down the body and stimulate circulation.

LACONIUM

A Roman style dry sweating room with a lower temperature than a common sauna, releasing heat through the benches and floor.

RAIN & FOG SHOWER

Activate your senses with a Tropical Rain shower with lighting effects to induce a feeling of warmth and well-being. The Cold Fog replaces a traditional plunge pool to cool down the body.

TEPIDARIUM

Relax and enjoy a new level of well-being with comfortable lounge beds. Our tepidarium catches the sun and overlooks spectacular views.

2

KNEIPP FOOT BATHS

Designed with hot and cold taps to bathe and relax your feet, these Kneipp foot baths have been specially designed with stones and pebbles to massage your feet.

The room was just beautiful, we were in one of the turrets which is a HUGE suite. my photos really don’t do it justice.

I had brought Tom and I a bottle of champagne and the staff were so kind, brought up glasses to the room.

The suite was big enough to play hide and seek…Spot the Thomas..

We had a drink in the gorgeous old library, you are allowed to read the books so we had a browse at some ancient copies.

The detail in the ceilings was so intricate.

After a lovely dinner (no pictures, sorry! I was too hungry and demolished it before I had the chance!) we had a game of chess. A rook was missing so we improvised with our empty tonic bottle.
